Custom Luminaire for a
Fine-Dining Restaurant:
Natural Elegance
in Denmark

New Nordic Cuisine — inspired by northern landscapes, traditions, and local ingredients. This philosophy extends to the restaurant's pared-back Scandinavian interior, for which we developed the following bespoke luminaire.

As an internal study we set ourselves the task of designing a bespoke luminaire for a fine-dining restaurant in Denmark. The restaurant's architecture draws on the classic Scandinavian longhouse: a clean building form, an open-truss gable roof. The interior follows the same language — much wood, natural colours, restrained and elegant furniture.

The concept is built on the idea of the tasting menu. Just as individual courses are assembled by hand from different ingredients into a harmonious whole, the luminaire metaphorically connects each table in the room.

Like an imposing tree root it floats as a central node in the space — branches and tendrils reaching toward individual tables. At the tips of these branches hang the light sources: hand-blown glass elements, some transparent, some milky, some with a faint green shimmer. Every piece is made individually and carries its own unique air bubbles and wall thickness.

The luminaire occupies a generous footprint without drawing attention away from the food. Despite its scale it recedes into the experience and becomes part of the whole.
